NTPC, India’s largest energy conglomerate, has issued an RFQ to find solar-power developers to establish a 1,150-megawatt grid-connected solar photovoltaic project and a 150-megawatt battery-energy storage system (BESS) in the Republic of Cuba.
The solar project would span 175 locations across 15 provinces identified by the government of Cuba, and the BESS project would encompass three locations. The 1,150-megawatt project will be broken up into three buckets of around 300 megawatts each, which will be tendered together. A bidder may participate in one, two or all three blocks, with a minimum capacity of 50 megawatts. The 150-megawatt BESS projects are spread equally in each of the three blocks.
The project aims to displace the large amounts of imported fossil fuels used for conventional power generation.
According to the RFQ, the scope of work for the selected developer will include design, financing, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and t
