Northland Power closes Colombian utility deal

Northland Power has completed the purchase of a 99.2 percent interest in Colombian utility Empresa de Energía de Boyacá (EBSA) from Fondo de Capital Privado de Infraestructura Brookfield Colombia and BCIF Holdings Colombia II (Brookfield Infrastructure).

In September, the company announced its intent to buy into the utility in a deal originally valued at COP 2,665 ($1.05 billion). The purchase price was adjusted to COP 2,412 billion ($960 million) and may be subject to further post-closing adjustments, according to Northland Power.

The deal marks Northland’s entrance into Colombia and builds on its existing presence in Latin America.
