Northern Virginia Transportation Authority approves $1.2b six-year plan

by Andrea Zander

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has approved a $1.2 billion six-year plan for funding transportation projects across the region, totaling 44 projects. This is the authority’s first six-year plan since its creation in 2002.

“The 44 projects in our first Six-Year Program will deliver major improvements throughout the region that will not just relieve congestion but improve the quality of life for all Northern Virginians,” said Loudoun County Chair Phyllis Randall (D–At Large), who serves as vice chair on the authority’s board, to local media outlets.

In its three previous one-year funding programs, the authority has funded 78 transportation projects across the region valued at more than $690 million. The newly adopted six-year plan will bring that up to 122 projects, totaling more than $1.975 billion in transportation investments for Northern Virginia’s transportation network.
