German turbine manufacturer Nordex has been selected to supply nine wind turbines for the Lutelandet wind farm, a 51-megawatt project located on the western coast of Norway.
The project was developed by Vestavind Kraft and is owned by Lutelandet Energipark AS, a subsidiary of the Norwegian municipal utility, SFE Produksjon.
With a hub height of 105 meters (344 feet), Nordex said the turbines will take advantage of the local steady medium wind speeds, which hail from the west coast and tend to average around 7.4 meters per second.
The length of the service contract is five years, with the option to extend for up to four additional periods of five years. Installation is scheduled to start mid-2021. By the end of that year, Lutelandet is expected to generate 150 gigawatts of clean electricity per year.
