Nordea to hold soft closing of its €6b global climate fund

by Kali Persall

Nordea Asset Management has planned a soft closing for its Nordea 1 – Global Climate and Environment fund, which will take effect Feb. 26, according to Investment Week.

The fund was launched in 2008 to invest in innovative companies that advance an environmentally sustainable society, according to a Nordea fact sheet for the fund.

At the end of January, the fund had reached €6 billion ($7.3 billion) of assets under management. Investment Week cites the fund’s rapid growth as the reason for the soft closure, which was enacted to protect the interests of existing shareholders.

“We have been truly humbled by the trust that investors around the globe have placed in both Nordea and our Global Climate and Environment solution,” said Thomas Sorensen, co-manager of the fund. “Protecting our clients' interests remains our top priority.”
