NextEnergy Capital (NEC), a global renewables manager specializing in the solar-plus infrastructure sector, recently brought a new utility-scale solar asset online in the United Kingdom.
The 60-megawatt Hatherden asset was energized on behalf of the NextEnergy UK I (NEUK I) fund, formerly known as NextPower UK.
NEUK I closed in March with a total of £733 million ($984 million) — approximately 50 percent above its target size. The fund has more than doubled its total operational capacity during the past 12 months, and its latest total operating capacity now stands at 380 megawatts. According to NEC, it has rapidly deployed capital into well-selected critical energy infrastructure assets in the United Kingdom and remains on track to achieve its target total of 1 gigawatt of operational capacity across solar PV and energy storage.
