New York is adopting a $275 billion infrastructure program as part of the state’s budget plan for FY2021. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the new budget plan on Jan. 21, which also included a $33 billion five-year plan to combat climate change.
The infrastructure program will be carried out in two phases, kicking off with a $100 billion investment. The second phase, a newly expanded $175 billion infrastructure plan, would be spread out over a variety of sectors and projects. These include:
$87 billion for transportation, including mass transit, railroads, airports, highways, bridges, and tunnels across the state.
$35 billion for improving environmental facilities and parks, and the development of green energy.
