The New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) has committed $300 million to Blackstone’s open-ended commingled investment fund, Blackstone Infrastructure Partners (BIP).
In July, Blackstone closed its inaugural fundraising phase for the fund with $14 billion in capital commitments.
NYSCRF listed the investment as a part of its real assets portfolio in a financial report detailing recent investments for the month of June. The investment closed on June 30.
According to the pension fund, BIP looks to invest in the energy, communications, transportation, and water and waste sectors. It will target infrastructure investments and investments in public private partnership infrastructure projects within the core and core-plus space, and primarily in North America.
