New York Internet expands data services to Chicago

by Kali Persall

New York Internet (NYI) has acquired a new data center facility in Chicago, expanding its services to the region.

NYI purchased the facility, which previously belonged to cloud services company Navisite, from RDX. According to Data Economy, the data center already serves a number of verticals, such as finance and telecommunications.

The site features 7,100 square feet of colocation space and access to 1.25 megawatts of power, with low-latency access to the Chicago market.

“We’re thrilled to enter the Chicago market and are ready to hit the ground running,” said Phillip Koblence, NYI co-founder and COO, in a statement. “The facility has incredible underlying fiber density and a strategic location that will give our clients maximum flexibility in terms of connectivity.”

NYI has two data centers in New York. The company sold one in New Jersey earlier this week.
