New Mexico SIC commits $100m to Blackstone infrastructure fund

The $23.1 billion New Mexico State Investment Council has committed $100 million to Blackstone Infrastructure Partners, according to Charles Wollmann, director of communications, legislative and client relations for the pension fund.

Blackstone Infrastructure Partners is an open-ended infrastructure fund. Blackstone anticipates the program will have $40 billion in total equity commitments in a permanent capital vehicle.

According to the firm’s website, Blackstone’s approach to infrastructure investing is one that puts a focus on responsible stewardship and community engagement. In areas such as clean power, energy transmission, communications technology, and many others, the firm seeks to help move forward sustainable projects that drive local economic growth and job creation, and enhance quality of life.

Over the past 15 years, Blackstone has invested in more than $40 billion of infrastructure-related projects globally.
