Construction on a new hospital in Vaughan, Ontario, has reached completion, according to InfraPPP.
Formerly known as Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is the first hospital to be built in the city of Vaughan, and the first new hospital to be built in the York Region in the past 30 years. It also will be the first hospital in Canada to feature fully integrated “smart” technology.
The project was completed following a competitive procurement process. Plenary Health was selected as the preferred bidder in August 2016 following an extensive evaluation process that began more than a year prior.
The new hospital has 350 beds, a state-of-the-art emergency department, modern surgical services and operating rooms, and a flexible design. It will start providing patient care services in early 2021.
