National Infrastructure Commission selects new CEO

by Kali Persall

The National Infrastructure Commission, an executive agency responsible for advising the U.K. government on infrastructure challenges, has appointed James Heath as CEO, following an open selection process.

Heath is scheduled to begin work at the commission later in the spring.

Heath currently serves as director of digital infrastructure at the department for culture, media and sport (DCMS). He led the company through the Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review and Telecoms Supply Chain Review, and he was responsible for broadband, mobile and telecoms security policy, and the government’s 5G Trials & Testbed Program.

Before joining DCMS in 2017, Heath served as director of policy at the BBC.

“Infrastructure has shot to the top of the political agenda, and this role offers an unparalleled opportunity to advise government on how to ensure future investment will deliver lasting benefits to communities across the U.K.,” said Heath.
