N.J. energy transition-focused investor buys UK waste and recycling firm for $2.6b

Energy Capital Partners,  New Jersey-based investor focused on energy transition, has completed the acquisition of Biffa plc, a U.K.-based integrated waste and recycling firm, in a $2.6 billion transaction.

Biffa has been in United Kingdom’s waste management industry for more than 100 years. The company provides essential waste services to  about 100,000 business customers and about 2 million households, handling about 8 million tons of resources every year.-

Energy Capital Partners, founded in 2005, is based in Summit, N.J., with offices in New York City, Houston, San Diego and Seoul. ECP invests across energy-transition, electrification and decarbonization-infrastructure assets, including power generation, renewables and storage solutions, environmental infrastructure and efficiency & reliability assets facilitating the energy transition.
