Multimillion-dollar developments revealed

Several multimillion-dollar and even billion-dollar development projects have been making headlines in the past couple of weeks.

In Omaha, Neb., a $1.2 billion mixed-use development, Avenue One, won unanimous preliminary approval for the plan and rezoning from the Omaha Planning Board. The developer is Jasper Stone Development, and the project, once fully approved, is expected to take 15 years to complete.

Avenue Onewill be built on more than 180 acres straddling 192nd Street south of West Dodge Road, the equivalent of about 50 square city blocks. It would have a seven-acre central plaza at its heart, 26 acres of green space and more than six miles of walking and biking trails. It will have more than 2,000 residential units and 1.3 million square feet of office and commercial space.

Avenue One will be one of the largest projects of its kind in Omaha and is expected to have an annual economic impact of more than $1 billion.
