Washington is the number one state where millennials are moving to with Seattle being the number one city, according to financial technology company SmartAsset. The firm compared the number of people between the ages of 20 and 34 who moved to 217 U.S. cities to the number who moved away from them, using 2016 Census Bureau migration data.
According to Pew Research Center, there are around 71 million millennials in America and they are expect to surpass the number of baby boomers in 2019.
Washington received the largest influx of millennials, both in terms of net influx and net influx relative to population. The state received nearly 40,000 more millennials than it lost, which is around 0.55 percent of the overall population. Seattle was the main beneficiary of these millennials.
Nearly 30,000 millennials moved to Seattle; however, just over 22,000 moved out of the city. This left the city with a net influx of 7,300 millennials.
