Microsoft turns attention to Poland with $1b investment plan

by Kali Persall

Microsoft has unveiled a $1 billion investment plan designed to accelerate digital transformation in the “Polish Digital Valley.”

Under the investment plan, Microsoft will open a new data center region in Poland as part of its global-scale cloud, servicing the country’s startups, entrepreneurs and enterprises, as well as the government. The initiative extends over the next seven years.

“I deeply believe that Microsoft’s investment in Poland will be important for enterprises, public institutions and the education system and will enable them to digitally transform and implement new work standards,” said Mateusz Morawiecki, prime minister of Poland. “Our primary goal is to accelerate Poland’s transformation into a technological hub for the region of Central and Eastern Europe.”

Microsoft said the announcement builds on a nearly 30-year presence in the country.
