Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has plans to select the contractor for Boston’s $2.2 billion Green Line rail extension project on Dec. 11.
The three companies competing for the $2.2 billion project’s largest contract were qualified to handle the job: GLX Constructors, Green Line Partners and Walsh Barletta Granite.
And two of the three teams bidding on the $1.3 billion design-build phase of Boston’s $2.2 billion Green Line rail extension project have said they can complete their scope of work within the allotted budget, according to the Boston Herald.
The project will let trolley passengers travel outbound from a new Lechmere Station in East Cambridge to six new stops in Somerville and Medford. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
The project was nearly terminated due to schedule delays and cost overruns of nearly $1 billion.
