Mayfair Gold Corp., a Canadian mineral exploration company, has delivered its 100 percent controlled Fenn-Gib Project as Canada’s first carbon-neutral gold project, following the completion of carbon offset purchases to account for emissions.
Located in the Timmins region of Northeast Ontario, the Fenn-Gib deposit is positioned to deliver robust gold recoveries through both whole-ore cyanidation and flotation.
To compensate for 738 tons of carbon dioxide–equivalent greenhouse gas emissions generated by the company’s exploration activities in 2021, Mayfair has purchased carbon offsets from the Canada-wide Thermal Residential Heating Aggregation Project.
The offsets will be retired on the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Clean CleanProjects Registry. The project replaces conventional residential fossil fuel combustion heating with solar heating systems located at private residences across Canada and other facilities.
