Marriott International has plans to invest more into home sharing, Homes & Villas by Marriott International, reported media outlets.
Marriott International will soon start taking reservations through its website for 2,000 homes in 100 markets in the United States, Europe and Latin America. It plans to expand its Homes & Villas program to other locations. The rentals will not just exclusive Marriott properties. Marriot will be working with third-party property management companies.
However, combining luxury properties and loyalty points to lure travelers away from rivals such as Airbnb have yet to make huge returns for hoteliers, like Hyatt, which invested in Oasis, a luxury home-sharing site, in 2017, and AccorHotels, which bought home-sharing site Onefinestay in 2016.
