The Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) is preparing to launch a search for a new chief investment officer in January 2020, several media sources have reported.
The new hire will replace former CIO Andrew Sawyer, who left the $14.9 billion pension fund in November after serving for 12 years. James Bennett will serve as acting CIO until a replacement is found.
Prior to MainePERS, Sawyer served as portfolio manager at TD Bank and held positions at Raytheon Company, Prime Buchholz & Associates, Fuji Bank, and Manufacturers Hanover.
MainePERS is overweight to the infrastructure asset class, with a target allocation of 10 percent to the asset class, against an actual allocation of 12 percent.
