Maine PERS commits $100m to Brookfield infrastructure debt fund

by Kali Persall

The Maine Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) committed $100 million to Brookfield Infrastructure Debt Fund IV in late 2024, according to multiple reports.

The pension fund previously committed $100 million to the fund’s predecessor, Brookfield Infrastructure Debt Fund III (BID III), in 2022.

BID III targeted mezzanine debt investments in high-quality core infrastructure assets primarily in North America, as well as in South America, Australia and Europe. The fund closed with more than $6 billion of capital commitments in November 2023, including more than $400 million in discretionary co-investment capital. At the time of closing, BID III was the world’s largest private infrastructure debt fund.

A fundraising target for Brookfield's fourth infrastructure debt fund could not be determined at the time of publication.
