Macquarie’s seventh European infrastructure fund holds final close at €8b

Macquarie has held a final close for Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 7 (MEIF7) after raising more than €8 billion ($8.7 billion) in capital commitments, having surpassed its target of between €7 billion ($7.6 billion) and €8 billion ($8.7 billion). This makes MEIF7 the industry’s largest-ever fund focused on European infrastructure.

More than 100 pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers and fund-of-fund investors made commitments to MEIF7.

MEIF7 will invest in a diverse portfolio of infrastructure companies aligned with the investment themes of decarbonization, digitalization, the circular economy and demographic shifts.

MEIF7 already has made three investments in the digital, transport and utilities sectors:  acquiring a minority stake in VIRTUS Data Centres, a colocation and cloud connectivity services provider with 11 data cen
