Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) has purchased an 80-megawatt wind project in southern Norway from U.K. renewable energy company RES.
The Buheii wind farm project has a 17-year power-purchase agreement (PPA) with Eramet Norway. It is Eramet’s first wind energy PPA for its industrial sites.
“The rapid electrification of Norway’s economy is driving a significant growth in demand for affordable power, particularly in the energy-intensive industrial sector and companies like Eramet Norway,” said Edward Northam, head of GIG Europe.
Matilda Afzelius, RES’ CEO in the Nordics, said RES has a strong international relationship with Macquarie’s GIG that is now materializing in the Nordics. “We look forward to expanding our partnership through the construction and asset management of this project and forthcoming opportunities,” she added.
