Sotra Link — a consortium consisting of Macquarie Capital, South Korean civil engineering company SK ecoplant and Italian industrial group Webuild — has reached financial close on the €2 billion ($2.2 billion) Sotra Connection public-private partnership (P3) project.
It is the largest road infrastructure contract in Norwegian history, and one of the largest contracts awarded in Europe in 2021, according to Macquarie.
Sotra Link was selected as the preferred bidder for the project by the Norwegian Public Roads Authority (NPRA) in 2021. The consortium will operate and maintain the link for 25 years after it opens to traffic in 2027.
The P3 contract to finance, design, build and operate a 9.4-kilometer (5.8-mile) four-lane road link in Norway’s Vestland county will seek to improve travel between Bergen and Øygarden municipality. Once completed, it will be the largest and most complex of the Norwegian Government’s planned road P3s for its 2018–2029 Nati
