Macquarie and AVAIO to deliver desalination plant in major Belgium port

Macquarie Capital has partnered with AVAIO Capital to finalize the development and construction of a new desalination facility in Belgium’s Port of Antwerp, Europe’s second-largest seaport.

According to AVAIO, the Albert Canal is the primary source of drinking water for the Antwerp region. Roughly 40 percent of the water sourced from the canal is consumed by the industrial sector, putting stress on the local water supply. The project will seek to improve the resiliency of the water supply in the Antwerp region.
