The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) is seeking a private sector developer to map out a multi-billion transit project in Southern California, according to InfraPPP.
The Sepulveda Transit Corridor project would run through the Sepulveda pass, connecting the San Fernando Valley to the western side of the county, as well as the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The project was designed to alleviate traffic on the I-405 freeway, one of the most traveled urban highways in the nation with 400,000 travelers per day. The first phase of the transit line between the Valley and the Westside is scheduled to open in 2033.
In August, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) said it was looking into possible routes for the project, following a 20-month feasibility study to identify a range of travel alternatives.
