LACERA backs Bain Capital Real Estate Fund II

by Kali Persall

The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) has committed $100 million to Bain Capital Real Estate Fund II, a value-add fund managed by Bain Capital Partners.

Bain Capital Real Estate Fund II was the third-largest fund to launch in first quarter 2021, according to IREI’s FundTracker database. The vehicle opened to investors in January with a fundraising target of $1.6 billion.

The fund’s predecessor closed in July 2019 with $1.5 billion in capital commitments, surpassing its $1 billion fundraising target. Like its predecessor, Fund II will focus on real estate segments such as industrial, global logistics, life sciences and lab space, senior housing, affordable apartments, urban retail, and self-storage.
