by Kali Persall

The National Pension Service (NPS) of Korea has committed between $100 million and $200 million to Actis Energy 5, a private infrastructure fund managed by Actis Energy, according to The Korea Economic Daily.

Actis Energy 5 will invest in renewable energy assets, such as wind and solar projects, in emerging markets, primarily in Latin America, Africa and parts of Asia. Actis Energy 5 is seeking to raise a total of $4 billion in equity.

The fund raised $2.9 billion in capital commitments at its first close in July. The Employees Retirement System of Texas and Denmark’s Industriens Pension were among the fund’s investors.

The NPS previously invested into Actis Energy Fund 4, which raised a total of $2.75 billion in 2017.
