KKR has offered to buy a minority stake in Telecom Italia’s (TIM) “last-mile grid,” sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters this week.
The two companies have been in exclusive talks for the sale, with KKR offering €1.8 billion ($2.1 billion) for a 38 percent stake in TIM’s secondary copper and fiber network.
The deal could lead to a merger of TIM’s last-mile assets with rival Open Fiber and state lender CDP, which already owns a 10 percent stake in TIM.
