Kent takes majority stake in SNC-Lavalin’s oil and gas division

Kent, an integrated energy services partner formerly known as Kentech, has acquired the majority of SNC-Lavalin’s oil and gas division, with a minority portion to follow at a later date. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Following the acquisition, the company said it now harnesses the strength of major players in the energy services sector: including legacy SNC-Lavalin oil and gas, the Kentz business, and the oil and gas capabilities of the former Atkins business.

The company has also changed its name to Kent as part of a major rebrand and issued $65 million in an oversubscribed bond, alongside additional financial support from its majority shareholder, Bluewater, to accelerate its growth strategy, fund working capital and to pay for the acquisition.

The combined business has secured more than $500 million in new contractual awards across all its regions and service offerings year-to-date.
