Kansas PERS commits $50m to AEW senior housing fund

The Kansas Public Employees Retirement System has committed $50 million to AEW Senior Housing Investors IV, according to Kristen Basso, communications officer for the retirement system.

Managed by global investment manager AEW Capital Management, AEW Senior Housing Investors IV is a core-plus/value-added real estate fund that will invest in senior housing properties throughout the United States.

AEW’s seniors housing strategy targets opportunities for acquisition, development and select repositioning primarily in the memory care, assistant living, independent living and age-restricted sectors of the seniors housing market. The general focus is on assets in major metropolitan markets in the United States that exhibit strong underlying income demographics for both seniors and their adult children, as well as favorable supply and demand characteristics.
