JV wins $648m highway concession in north London

A concession contract has been awarded to a 50-50 joint venture between Tarmac and Kier for a highways project framework public-private partnership in London, InfraPPP reports.

The work will take place on Lot 2 of the Transport for London (TfL) Highways Maintenance and Project Framework. Under the contract, the joint venture will maintain and improve highways and assets spanning a 189-kilometer ($117-mile) network in north London. The groups will share a £500 million ($648 million) pipeline of work over a period of eight years, with an option to extend an additional four years.

The £1.4 billion ($1.8 billion) Highways Maintenance and Project Framework covers different areas throughout London, including the Central Area lot, a £550 million ($713 million) contract awarded to Ringway, and the South Area lot, a £370 million ($480 million) contract awarded to FM Conway.
