JLL has revealed plans to reach net-zero carbon emissions across 460 of its occupied buildings by 2030.
In September 2019, JLL became the first property consultancy in the United Kingdom to sign up to the WorldGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment, which positions energy efficiency as a central component to achieving decarbonization across global portfolios.
JLL’s reductions will cover 474,967 square meters (5.1 million square feet) of total floor area and will encompass 27,761 tons of carbon emissions.
“As real estate is responsible for 40 percent of the world’s carbon emissions, JLL is dedicated to reducing our own emissions and also to partner with our clients to help them do the same,” said Richard Batten, global chief sustainability officer of JLL. “Having committed to a science-based target, JLL is proud to be a signatory of the WorldGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment covering all of our global operational buildings portfolio.”
