Investments in India hit $37b this year

Private equity and venture capital investments in India hit their highest figure ever this year, at $36.96 billion comprising 861 deals, according to Mint.

The data was uncovered by Venture Intelligence, a research service focused on private company financials, transactions and their valuations. This year’s investments trumped last year’s $33.1 billion across 720 transactions and represents an all-time high, according to a press release by Venture Intelligence.

This year, infrastructure-related industries accounted for 40 percent of private equity investments, bringing in $14.7 billion across 74 deals, compared to a 20 percent share in 2018, made up of 83 deals valued at $7.8 billion, Mint reported.

In addition, deals in the energy industry accounted for 26 investments worth $4.9 billion, compared to last year’s 31 deals valued at $3.2 billion.
