Insurance company joins U.S. investors in backing Brookfield’s fourth infra fund

IREI has learned that Fubon Life Insurance has committed $200 million to Brookfield Infrastructure Fund IV, an investment vehicle targeting transportation, renewable power, utilities and data infrastructure assets across North America, Europe, South America and Asia Pacific.

Fubon Life Insurance could not be reached to comment on the investment.

Brookfield Asset Management’s fourth fund is looking to raise $17 billion, which would make it the firm’s largest infrastructure fund to date.

Fubon joins a number of institutional investors that have committed to the fund, including the New Mexico State Investment Council, New York State Common Retirement Fund, Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, Canada-based Portland Investment Counsel and Ventura County (Calif.) Employees’ Retirement Association .

The previous fund in the series, Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III, closed with $14 billion in 2016.
