Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx launch RFQ for Scarborough Subway Extension project

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx are soliciting a team to design, build and finance a $4 billion subway extension project in Toronto. The groups launched a formal request for qualifications on March 6.

The Scarborough Subway Extension project (SSE) project is a fully underground extension of Toronto’s Bloor-Danforth subway Line 2, according to the procurement website. The 4.8-mile extension will run from the existing terminal at Kennedy Station northeast to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road.

The SSE will include three new stations, modifications to Kennedy Station, and will replace the existing Line 3, serving as the local rapid transit option in Scarborough.
