Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx launch RFP for two tunneling projects in Canada

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have issued two RFPs to six teams that have recently been shortlisted to bid on the advance tunnelling work on the Scarborough Subway Extension and the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension projects in Canada.

The Scarborough Subway Extension consists of an 8-kilometer (5-mile) extension of Line 2 from Kennedy Station to McCowan Road/Sheppard Ave., while the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension is a 9.2-kilometer (5.7-mile) underground extension of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT (future TTC Line 5).

Tunnelling will begin first, followed by separate contracts for the balance of the work on each project, which includes building the stations, fitting out the tunnels, and installing and commissioning the systems, according to IO.
