A deluge of mega-funds entered the infrastructure investment space this year, with firms such as Goldman Sachs, Global Infrastructure Partners, Morgan Stanley and BlackRock Real Estate leading the charge.

According to IREI’s FundTracker database, there were 28 fund closings with $76 billion raised in 2019, year-to-date, putting fund managers on pace to raise more capital this year than the previous two.

In 2018, $74.6 billion was raised through 38 fund closings, which pushed past the 12-month fundraising total during the same period of 2017 of more than $60 billion.
