Nordic infrastructure fund Infranode has earmarked an investment of up to DKK1 billion ($145 million) for infrastructure facilities at Danish Port Esbjerg.
The investment will be used to fund port facilities for storage, reassemble and manufacturing of components for the port’s offshore wind turbines.
The Port of Esbjerg is Denmark’s largest port on the North Sea. It is the primary service and supply port to the Danish oil and gas industry and a Northern European hub for cargo, with 4.5 million tonnes of cargo handled each year, according to the port’s website. It is also a major hub for wind power, with more than four-fifths of the offshore wind capacity installed in Europe shipped out from the port. Several offshore wind farms are maintained with Port Esbjerg as base.
