Indonesian consortium PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) has won a bid for a DR 20.68 trillion ($1.43 billion) multi-functional satellite project called SATRIA.
On May 8, the PSN consortium, comprised of Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), PT Pintar Nusantara Sejahtera PT Dian Semesta Sentosa, and PT Nusantara Satelit Sejahtera, signed a 15-year public-private partnership with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Indonesia for the project.
PSN is set to provide financing, design, procurement, construction, launch, operation and maintenance for the high-throughput satellite. Aerospace manufacturer Thales Alenia Space has been hired to build the satellite, which is planned for the end of 2019.
Upon completion, SATRIA will have the capacity to transmit 150 gigabytes-per-second. It will service 149,400 service locations across Indonesia, including 93,900 schools, 47,900 government offices, 3,900 police and army offices, and 3,700 health centers w
