The Indian government has plans for a 2.5-gigawatt auction for wind and solar hybrid projects, which is part of the recently announced Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The objective is to optimize the use of transmission infrastructure and land and to reduce renewable power variability.
Developers would be able to bid for a total capacity of between 200 megawatts and 500 megawatts with individual projects of at least 50 megawatts, according to the rules drafted by MNRE.
Solar Energy Corporation will issue a request for selection document for bidding under the scheme by June 9.
