by Elise Mackanych

The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) has committed up to $25 million into Grain Communications Opportunity Fund IV, a vehicle of Grain Management. IMRF is an existing partner of Grain Management, with $7.5 million in total commitments.

Grain Communications Opportunity Fund IV is a closed-end infrastructure fund targeting digital infrastructure in North America. With a fundraising target of $4 billion, this fund will invest specifically in towers, data centers, fiber rollouts and managed sources. This commitment follows an $80 million investment by Ohio Police & Fire Pension in October.

IMRF is a public pension fund that services local government and school district employees of Illinois. It has $54 billion in total assets with a 10.5 percent target to real assets. As of June 30, it has $5.1 billion in real assets.
