Iceland-based Advania Data Centers (ADC) and Stockholm Exergi have partnered to construct a new data center in Stockholm, expanding ADC’s colocation offerings to the region.
ADC said it will lease land in Stockholm Data Parks to build the data center. The heat generated by computing equipment in the data center will be used to heat homes in Stockholm.
This is the first data center ADC plans to build outside of Iceland, where it already operates two data centers: the first in Hafnarfjörður, a town along the southwest coast, and the other in Reykjanesbær, one of Europe’s largest data center campuses.
According to Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, CEO of ADC, the company is planning further development in the Nordic region.
The $70 million build-up will be completed in seven phases. Design work and preparation for construction are currently under way, with the first phase of facility to be ready for use in late 2020.
