Hochtief Aktiengesellschaft, a German engineering-led global infrastructure group, has secured a contract from the national traffic authority NDS to develop part of the R2 highway in Slovakia, the firm announced on Aug. 8.
Construction on the R2 section Mýtna–Lovinobaňa–Tomašovce began in July and is scheduled to open in 2021. Upon completion, the project will run the length of 13.5 kilometers (8.3 miles) and include 11 bridges, six anti-noise walls and eight supporting walls.
The contract is valued at approximately €130 million ($145 million) for the joint venture, in which Hochtief has a 50 percent share.
The company’s core activities include construction, services and concessions/public-private partnerships (PPP) in Australia, North America and Europe, according to Hochtief.
The company’s infrastructure arm delivers transportation, energy and construction projects in Europe. It offers services for all realization phases of buildings, bridges, roads, tunnels, harbors, rail links, airports, and facilities for the generation of conventional and renewable energy.
