Black Creek Group increased its purse by more than 150 percent last year, with $2.3 billion in capital raised, the Denver real estate investment manager said in a statement.
Of the funds collected, $1.6 billion came from institutional investors and $700 million, from individual and high-net-worth investors.
In December, the firm raised $1 billion for its industrial fund, Black Creek Industrial Fund (BCIF), alone, aided by commitments from the San Antonio Fire & Police Pension System and the Ohio Police & Fire (OP&F) Pension Fund.
The firm experienced a slower year for developments, with 3.1 million square feet of industrial space developed in 2019, an 18 percent dip from the year prior. However, it did have a strong buying year, acquiring 13.4 million square feet of industrial and multifamily properties, three times more than 2018.
