Kier Highways has secured a six-month extension for a multibillion-dollar highway public-private-partnership (P3) project in the United Kingdom, according to InfraPPP.
Kier won the 15-month Birmingham Interim Services Contract (ISC), managed by Birmingham Highways Ltd. (BHL), in April 2020. Work includes the city’s traffic operations, planned and reactive maintenance, as well as inspections and winter servicing. Since the contract was initially signed, 288,533 square meters (3.1 million square feet) of roadways and 82,476 square meters (887,764 square feet) of sidewalks have been repaired.
The contract has now been extended to Dec. 30, 2021. InfraPPP reports that work is already under way to procure surveys, extend subcontracts, identify programs of work and develop a plan for the delivery of services during the extended period.
