Hero Future Energies wins tender for 10MW energy-storage plant in India

India’s Hero Future Energies (HFE), the renewable arm of the Hero Group, has emerged as the preferred bidder in a tender launched by the Kerala State Electricity Board for the construction of a 10-megawatt grid-connected energy-storage plant in Kerala, India.

This will be HFE’s first utility-scale battery-energy storage system. HFE will have 15 months after signing the contract to commission the project.

“The experience gained from the 10-megawatt/20-megawatt-hour energy-storage plant will enable us to execute similar projects with more states likely to issue storage tenders in the days ahead,” said a source from the company, as reported by Chemical Industry Digest. “We believe that storage will be integral to the next phase of growth of renewables in India and as such will continue to be a key thrust area for HFE.”
