Heitman has appointed Jerry Ehlinger, CFA, as senior managing director of Heitman Real Estate Securities, and global leader of the business. He will also serve on the firm’s global management committee.
Kathy Sandstrom, senior managing director who led Heitman’s global real estate securities platform for the past five years, will step down from her current role and relocate back to Florida with her family in time for the commencement of the school year. She will continue to serve as an adviser to the securities business leadership team and provide counsel as the business continues to evolve and grow. Over the course of her 22-year tenure at Heitman, Sandstrom has held several roles at the firm, and previously led the North American client service & marketing group.
Ehlinger possesses 23 years of experience in real estate and investment management, including 13 years of experience managing global real estate securities portfolios. He has been with Heitman for eight years and, for the past five years, has led Heitman’s North American strategies and served as co-portfolio manager for the group’s global strategies. Ehlinger is a member of the real estate securities group’s global investment committee, and is an equity owner of the firm.
Ehlinger received a Master of Science in finance, investment and banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is a member of the Nareit real estate investment advisory council, the CFA Institute, and the CFA Society of Chicago.
