The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) is considering an investment of up to $300 million to Schroders Greencoat Woodmont Renewables.
The state’s private markets committee approved the investment at its Sept. 7 meeting. The investment decision will be forwarded to the Board for consideration at its meeting on Sept. 21.
Incorporated on Aug. 22, Schroders Greencoat Woodmont Renewables is a separately managed account (SMA) under Schroders Greencoat. The SMA invests in renewables and assets supporting the European energy transition.
Schroders Capital acquired 75 percent of shares in Greencoat Capital in April 2022 and renamed the investment management firm as Schroders Greencoat. Founded in 2009, Schroders Greencoat is now one of the largest renewable-energy infrastructure investors in Europe. In 2021, the firm began expanding into markets in North America.
