HarbourVest Partners has appointed John Toomey as CEO, effective Oct. 1, 2024.
John Toomey and Pete Wilson have been part of the firm’s executive management committee (EMC), which collectively serves as CEO, for more than a decade. As part of this transition, Pete Wilson, will remain at the firm through the end of 2025, when he plans to retire.
“HarbourVest is a special place that I have been honored to be a part of for more than 27 years,” said Toomey. “As part of our leadership team alongside Pete Wilson, we’ve seen the company grow from $36 billion in assets under management to $125 billion assets under management and increase in size from nearly 200 to over 1,200, always with a keen eye toward our client-centric approach and company culture. I consider myself lucky to have worked alongside Pete, first as senior members of the secondary team, and later as part of the EMC. He has been an incredible partner and I am grateful for his knowledge and friendship.
